In accordance with Section 28.2-209 of the Code of Virginia, a public hearing on the proposed amendments to these regulations will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, 380 Fenwick Road, Bldg. 96, Fort Monroe, Virginia.
Written public comments on the proposals below or on items not on the agenda must be provided by 12:00 noon, Thursday, April 16, 2026. I. Chapter 4VAC20-950, “Pertaining to Black Sea Bass”
The Commission proposes to amend Chapter 4VAC20-950, “Pertaining to Black Sea Bass” to establish the recreational management measures for black sea bass, including a minimum size limit of no less than 12.5 inches, and amend the annual commercial quota determination.
The purpose of this amendment is to comply with the Interstate Fisheries Management Plan for this species and to reflect the annual commercial quota determined by the Interstate Fisheries Management Plan.
